Dr. Seuss

I have been brainstorming possible ways to relate my trip and experience in Africa to a lesson in an elementary classroom.  And as some of you could guess from the title of my blog, it has to do with Dr. Seuss! I have been reading other blogs related to the orphanage that we will be working with and the idea just hit me! Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! would be a PERFECT way to make the connection.  I read the book a few times after I came up with the idea, and I decided it was too good of a chance to pass up

Here is a little summary of the book (in case you haven't read it or seen the movie!) that I wrote up for a quick glance at the connection:

Poor Horton was thought to be a grave fool,
But he fought & fought to save Who's from a pool.
Alas the Who's spec had been taken away,
...
It was lost in some clovers and made Horton feel gray.
Then on he searched hour by hour
He saved them at last on the 3 millionth flower!

Here is a challenge to all of you: B
e like Horton! Believe in a change even if those around you don't! And always remember, a person's a person no matter how small.”
